So, nothing about the campaign, but a reminder of what a great city it is to visit and what great food you can get there!
BBC4 is repeating Rick Stein’s TV series, Rick Stein’s Long Weekends from 2016, in which the well-known chef investigates the food and something of the culture of a range of cities. Sadly the programme on Thessaloniki was broadcast after our visit there in 2016, but watching the episode on Cádiz when it was first broadcast gave us some great ideas for a subsequent visit, involving flamenco, sherry and shrimp fritters! But that’s getting off the point, this is what Radio Times has to say about tonights episode (repeated on BB4 at 1.15am):
Rick explores Greece’s second city, revered as the country’s gourmet capital. It’s one with many identities, teeming with a student population hungry for dishes that reflect the freshest seafood, vibrant mezzes flavoured with cinnamon, paprika and saffron, and sweet syrupy pastries – a blend of West meeting East.
And not a tin of bully beef to be seen!
