9th (Service) Battalion East Lancashire Regiment in Macedonia

My thanks go to SCS member Harry Fecitt who provided an article about 1/12th Battalion (Pioneers) The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in Macedonia, which recently appeared here as part of our online commemorations of the First Battle of Doiran:

Part 1Part 2 | Part 3

I am pleased to bring to your attention a further article by Harry which can be found online at the Kaiser’s Cross website:

This battalion was part of 65th Brigade, 22nd Division and served in Macedonia from 1915 to 1919, taking part in both Battles of Doiran (1917 and 1918).

If you have material on the campaign that you would like to share through this website – or would like to submit for our journal, The New Mosquito – please contact the Society using this contact form.

Robin Braysher joined the SCS in 2003 and from 2008 has been the Society's web editor. His interest in the campaign comes from his grandfather, Fred, who served as a cyclist with the BSF from 1915 to 1917, mainly in the Struma valley. Robin hands over the role in October 2021 to Andy Hutt. Andy's interest in the campaign comes from his grandfather, Arthur, who served as a Royal Engineer from 1916-1918. All posts prior to February 2021 are by Robin. Opinions expressed in these posts are personal and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Society.
