Since 2009 the Society has organised tours, led by our Chair, Alan Wakefield. These are advertised on our website and in The New Balkan News. Tours are carefully planned with local liaison and pre-tour reconnaissance.
For example, in 2025 Alan led a very successful battlefield tour that had as its theme the role of artillery with the BSF. A tour group of 27 visited key ground associated with British operations in the Salonika Campaign. This included locations near the River Vardar (Axios) around Machukovo (Evzoni) and Smol (Mikro Dassos).
An important aspect of the tours is commemoration and remembrance. In 20205, SCS contingent formed the largest contingent of representatives of any of the commemorative associations/societies present at the official Remembrance ceremony at Polykastro.
