After our popular 2017 tour and the numerous military units we have led to this stunning battlefield, with the help of recognized authority on the Campaign and author of Under the Devil’s Eye, Alan Wakefield, Battle Honours are pleased to announce this small group walking tour in connection with the Salonika Campaign Society.
Offering an in-depth study of the British part of the Salonika Front through a series of walks, visits to memorials, cemeteries and forgotten trench lines the tour will be led by Alan Wakefield.
Limited to just 20 participants the tour will cover the construction of the Birdcage defence line, operations in the Struma Valley including the 1916 attacks on the Karajakois, Yenikoi and Tumbitza Farm along with the well planned capture of Homondos in 1917. The winter 1915 fight on Kosturino Ridge and the two Battles of Doiran in 1917 and 1918 will also feature as we follow in the footsteps of 10th (Irish) Division, 22nd, 26th, 27th, 28th and 60th (London) Divisions who played a key role in this often overlooked campaign of the Great War.
If you are not a member of the Salonika Campaign Society, you can still book and your Society membership will be included by Battle Honours.
