My thanks go to Richard Power who has sent me the link to his centenary blog – George’s War Letters – in which he is publishing, in real-time, the war-time letters of his Great Uncle, George Power.

George Power was a pre-war, Regular Army officer who was commissioned into and served with the Second Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment throughout the First World War, although for much of the Macedonian campaign he ran a machine gun school at Lembet.
The letters start in December 1914 with George’s arrival in France, and will continue until 29 June 1919. The blog is illustrated with photographs and maps and the letters are accompanied by a fascinating commentary.
