Further to my centenary post of 18 December – Remembering Corporal Sidney Robinson, KRRC, and comrades who died one hundred years ago – I am delighted to have heard from Sidney’s grandson, Mark Robinson, again.
Mark had a successful trip to Greece and is now safely back in Australia. He not only visited Neohori (now Amphipoli) in the Struma Valley, where his grandfather was killed, but also his grave in Mikra British Cemetery at Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, on the centenary of his death. He has sent a photograph of the headstone and a poignant photo of Sidney, his wife, Alice, and sons, Sidney and William, which are reproduced below.
