The SCS Battlefield Tour 2026 is well underway, with visits to historic sites and acts of commemoration taking place across the former Salonika front.
The overall theme of this year’s tour is the role of the Royal Engineers with the British Salonika Force (BSF). Locations on the tour include the Doiran battlefield, where the BSF suffered around 35% of its total battle casualties; the Struma Valley, where XVI Corps faced not only their Bulgarian adversaries but also the ever-present threat of endemic malaria; and Kosturino Ridge, where the 10th (Irish) Division made a stand during the winter of 1915.
