Another card and poem sent by Sid in Salonika in 1917, to his wife Elsie. This mentions their first meeting ‘by the tower’ – could that have been Blackpool Tower?
Dear Wife of Mine
O, how I prize the memory,
Of our first meeting by the tower
That night seemed like Eternity,
Sweet wife of mine
Your voice , so gentle and so low,
Taught me to love, and now I know
My heart shall follow where’re you go,
Dear chips of mine
Salonica 1917.To My Dear Wife from
Your ever loving and devoted husband
