Contribute to the New Mosquito

We would be delighted to consider your article for inclusion in the journal of the Society, the New Mosquito, which usually includes four articles of varying content, length, style, and scholarly focus. However, each article is not everything that an author knows or has researched. As the author , you will have knowledge to identify and create a ‘story’ and write it so that it is accessible to the general reader. The editor, will contribute to that story in order to improve the consistency, conciseness, and clarity within the Journal.

Here are some suggestions on what to do to start your writing.

Read previous articles

While you may already have an idea of what you wish to write about, start by reading previous articles. You can access these online via the SCS Members Area. Some stories may be best told in 500 – 1000 words, a couple of pages, others may need a few more. Focus on the subheadings, how long are the paragraphs, how are quotations handled? How are images and data presented? Which approach may suit your article? Carefully structuring an article with a coherent and concise story supported by the appropriate use of tables and images is a help to the reader.

SCS Guidelines

Read through the SCS guidelines (below) to ensure that you are aware of the format and length. No set of guidelines is completely unambiguous so please check and get in touch if you are not sure. Once you have written your article, please send it via email to the editor in the form of a Word document. Attach all the figures, images in the same email message in jpg formats. The editor, Dr Elaine Batchelor can be contacted via email: SCSEditor2026@gmail.com

Articles which have been checked and agreed as a final version will be collated for each edition and formatted for conformance with the style of the Journal. There are no set timelines between submission and publication.

We look forward to hearing from you and reading about your stories and research.
