A new book on a forgotten front

Whilst browsing wistfully through the Helion & Company website – they have so many books on military history, some of which are intriguingly ‘left field’ – I came across a book on the Macedonian campaign to be published this autumn:

THE FORGOTTEN FRONT – The Macedonian Campaign, 1915-1918, by Jon Lewis.

Jon Lewis is not a name I know so, if he is a member of the SCS and I should recognise him, I hope he will accept my apologies and get in touch to tell us more about his book. Even if he is not a member, it would be nice to hear from him and learn more about his forthcoming book, which is sure to be of interest to members!

Anyway, if you would like to know more about the book and its author or even sign-up for news of it, visit the Helion & Co. website here. And if you do buy it, please consider providing a review for the Society, either for this web site, The New Balkan News, or The New Mosquito.

Robin's interest in the campaign comes from his grandfather, Fred, who served as a cyclist with the BSF from 1915 to 1917, mainly in the Struma valley where he caught malaria and dysentery. Robin joined the SCS in 2003 and served on the committee for 18 years as journal and then web editor.
