1st February 1918 : Dear M …

After rather a gap, here is the final postcard that I have from Jack to Miss Hards. There is probably research to be done as we have her name and address – which could even lead to identifying the elusive Jack – but that’s for another day. In the meantime, I can tell you that ‘The Hall, Ashford’, is still standing and is on the market!

As a reminder, these are the previous postcards in the correspondence: 7 January 1918 | 12 January 1918 | 17 January 1918 | 19 January 1918

Friday 1st February 1918

To: Miss Hards, The Hall, Ashford, Bakewell, Derbyshire, England.

Robin Braysher joined the SCS in 2003 and soon after became editor of the Society's journal - 'The New Mosquito' - a role he held until 2008. He then became the Society's web editor, a role he seems unable to shake off. His interest in the campaign comes from his grandfather, Fred, who served as a cyclist with the BSF from 1915 to 1917, mainly in the Struma valley. Opinions expressed in these posts are his and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Society.
